Birdwatching in a Private Reserve

Visit us and discover highland birds at a Private Reserve, including the mythical Resplendent Quetzal.

Just 20 minutes from the beautiful town of Sarchi, in the middle of the mountains of the Central Volcanic Range, a tourism project is being developed whose main objectives are the conservation and protection of the flora and fauna of the area.

At the beginning of our tour, we are always greeted by a beautiful Emerald-Toucanet, which is one of the species that is only found in the highlands of Costa Rica. Near the Rancho Los Abuelos, we are accompanied by other birds such as the mountain thrush, Masked Tityra, Yellow-faced Grassquit, flycatchers and as well, hummingbirds;  and very high in the sky we can see one of the most common birds of prey of the area, the Red-tailed Hawk

Then, when we are ready to walk the trails, we will hear a variety of songs where mixed flocks stand out, among which the chlorospingus and different Warblers predominate, besides the Golden-browned Chlorophonia and the Long-tailed silky-flycatcher, these always accompanied by Black – faced Solitaire that, although they are very difficult to observe , their song resounds throughout the mountain

Finca La Gloria Private Reserve is home of emblematic species such as the Resplendent Quetzal and the Collared Trogon.  If we are lucky, we will be able to see them as they quietly use the perches along our journey.

A total of approximately 100 species of birds have been observed at La Gloria.  Apart from birds, mammals such as Ocelots, Coatis, and Tayras have also been seen here.

Finca La Gloria project is to conserve and to protect the natural habitat and use it for recreational purposes.  We invite you to come and enjoy the beauty of the flora and fauna with your friends and family.
